Nikitin Dheer, who is currently playing the role of Ravan in the television show Shrimad Ramayan, has appeared in films like Chennai Expressand Jodhaa Akbar in the past. After his appearance in Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express as Thangaballi, Nikitin felt like he had “arrived” but despite the success of the film, he had no work for over 11 months. In a recent interview, the actor said the he was starting to get recognised “overnight” but none of the regional industries of Hindi film industry offered him any work.

In a chat with The Times of India, Nikitin shared that he felt that Chennai Express “would change my life.” He shared that people started recognising him overnight and felt he has arrived, but 11 months after release of Chennai Express, he had no work. Nikitin said that he “kept waiting” but “did not get any offers at all.”

Nikitin recalled that he was given reasons like he was “too tall, too fair” not getting cast. At one point, he was told that he was well built and should try to look less intimidating. “I would just laugh at all these reasons and would just say, okay sir,” he said. The actor said that he decided to take up reality shows to get out of the image of Thangabali and that started to change things for him. He said he did Khatron Ke Khiladi so that people could see him as the person he was.

Nikitin was recently seen in Rohit Shetty’s Amazon Prime Video series Indian Police Force.
