The adage, ‘the student has become the master’, fits perfectly when it comes to the career of Dhanush. The Tamil star, who was once a reluctant actor, pushed by his father Kasthoori Raja and brother Selvaraghavan, he has become an important face in Kollywood. Now, Dhanush is taking things to the next level by directing his brother and mentor Selva in his upcoming film Raayan.

Dhanush took to social media to share the poster of Selva from the film and wrote, “Never thought I’ll direct you someday sir.”

Selva replied, “Thanks for the opportunity, director sir! It’s gonna be an epic and I’m so proud of you!”

Fans of the two stars are excited how the tables have turned. They also rejoiced how both called each other ‘Sir’ with their typical comic sense. Together Dhanush and Selva have made iconic films such as Pudhupettai, Kadhal Kondein, and Mayakkam Yenna. Dhanush’s performance has always been top-notch whenever he teams up with his brother. Now, it has to be seen if Selva becomes a great actor with Dhanush behind the lens.

Earlier, there were speculation that it was Selva who had written Dhanush’s Raayan. However, the elder brother denied it completely in a tweet and claimed Raayan is the work of Dhanush and he is part of the film as an actor and nothing more.

“Friends, I heard reports that I have written the script for D 50 RAAYAN. I clarify that I have NOTHING to do with ‘ RAAYAN ‘ s script or scripting process. It’s purely @dhanushkraja’s dream script and now he has made it into his own film. I am merely an actor in this project (sic),” Selva wrote.

Raayan, produced by Sun Pictures, also has Sandeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, and SJ Suryah in important roles. The film, said to be set in North Madras, is a gangster film, with music by AR Rahman. This is touted to be the biggest project of Dhanush to date. He is also directing another romantic drama, titled Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, with many young actors including Anaikha Surendran, Thomas Mathews, and Priya Prakash Varrier.
