Although it’s challenging to translate positive reviews into increased ticket sales and subsequently higher box office figures, director Rahul Sadasivan’s Mammootty-starrer Bramayugam is proving successful in doing so as it continues to perform well even during weekdays.

After passing the crucial Monday test, Bramayugam recorded an India nett collection of Rs 1.4 crore on Tuesday, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, which is just Rs 25 lakh less than its previous day’s figure. This brings Bramayugam’s total domestic nett collection to Rs 15.8 crore. The Mammootty film has so far grossed Rs 34.05 crore globally.

On Tuesday, the film achieved an overall occupancy of 23.60 per cent in the Malayalam market. Initially, the morning shows had a mere 13.70 per cent occupancy, but this steadily increased throughout the day, reaching 18.73 per cent during the afternoon, 26.44 per cent in the evening and peaking at 35.53 per cent during the night shows.

In Kerala, the film earned Rs 1.06 crore on the sixth day in theatres, as reported by local industry tracker What The Fuss, with 69,447 admissions across 768 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 31.35 per cent collectively.

Bramayugam has been consistently outperforming both Mammootty’s previous film, Kaathal – The Core, and director Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Mohanlal-starrer Malaikottai Vaaliban in the domestic market. While Kaathal only managed an India nett collection of Rs 60 lakh on its first Tuesday in theatres, Malaikottai Vaaliban fared even worse, with only Rs 44 lakh in earnings.

In his review of Bramayugam, The Indian Express’ Anandu Suresh wrote, “The horizons of the movie are expanded by Rahul’s adept use of mythology, wherein dark magic and the concept of Chaathan come into play, creating a horrifying atmosphere. While he has consistently displayed brilliance in portraying grey characters, with Baskara Pattelar in Vidheyan (1994) and Kuttan in Puzhu (2022) being prime examples, Mammootty surpasses himself in Bramayugam, exuding darkness like never before.”
