Though India did not have anything to look forward to at the 77th British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Film Awards, 2024, in terms of nominations, the star-studded event became a moment of great pride for the country as Bollywood star Deepika Padukone graced the ceremony to present an award.

Not only did Deepika look stunning, as she always does, but the Piku actor also chose to embrace her roots by wearing a shimmery gold saree, capturing everyone’s hearts.

Before the ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall early on Monday morning, Deepika had walked the red carpet, captivating everyone with her striking look. As soon as pictures and videos of her from the red carpet appeared online, fans showered their love on the actor. Comments like “ethereal” and “India’s princess” perfectly summed up the elegant yet understated charm she exuded.

Sharing a video of her posing for the media on the red carpet, one Twitter user wrote, “Forever the dreamy girl,” while another remarked, “she ate and left no crumbs.” Many also praised the actor for choosing to wear Indian attire, thus “representing India on one of the biggest global stages.”

At the BAFTA 2024 ceremony, amidst enthusiastic applause, Deepika presented the award for the Film Not in the English Language category, which was won by Jonathan Glazer’s Polish historical drama “The Zone of Interest.” While introducing the nominated films in the category, Deepika remarked, “The incredible stories nominated in this category depict real and imagined worlds that stay with us long after the credits roll. From the Alps to the Andes, South Poland to Seoul and to Ukraine…”

Before the ceremony, Deepika had shared a couple of photos of herself, giving her fans a glimpse of her attire for the night. “What a lovely look,” wrote a fan, while another commented, “Deepika proves dil hai Hindustani.” “No one looks better than you in a saree 😍😍😍,” was the reaction of one Instagram user, and there were quite a few thirst comments under the post as well. This was the actor’s first appearance at the BAFTAs.
