Benefiting from the overwhelmingly positive responses it has been receiving, Rahul Sadasivan’s Mammootty-starrer Bramayugam recorded its highest single-day box office collection on Sunday, surpassing the Rs 10 crore mark in the domestic market.

On its first Sunday in theatres, Bramayugam minted Rs 3.9 crore, nearly Rs 55 lakh more than its Saturday earnings, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, the film’s India nett collection currently stands at Rs 12.80 crore. On its release day on Thursday, the Mammootty film had earned Rs 3.1 crore.

On Sunday, Bramayugam experienced an overall occupancy of 67.62 per cent in the Malayalam market. Initially, during the morning shows, the movie had a 56.75 per cent occupancy. As the day progressed, the percentages witnessed a steady increase, rising to 71.86 percent during the afternoon showings and reaching 78.68 percent during the evening shows. The percentage dipped slightly during the night screenings and stood at 63.20. The film has so far grossed Rs 22 crore worldwide.

In Kerala, the film earned Rs 2.7 crore on Sunday, as reported by local industry tracker What The Fuss, with a striking 1,77,756 admissions across 855 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 72.71 per cent collectively.

While Bramayugam had a lower Day One collection compared to Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Mohanlal-starrer Malaikottai Vaaliban, which earned Rs 5.65 crore on its opening day (January 25, Thursday), it has performed notably better since then. In the domestic market, Malaikottai Vaaliban only managed to generate Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.25 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

At the same time, Bramayugam has also been performing better than Mammootty’s last film, Kaathal – The Core, which earned an India nett collection of Rs 5.65 crore in the first four days.
