Midday cattle quotes are near their highs for the session with 72c to $1.20 gains for the fats and 22 to 77 cent gains for the feeders. Cash trade has yet to be established this week, with last week mostly near $182. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was up 81 cents on February 12 to $246.87. 

Weekly beef export sales were shown at 16.6k MT for the week that ended 2/8. That was a new low for the year through the first 6-weeks, but was 1% above the same week last year. Beef exports were listed at 16.4k MT, which was 5% above the same week last year and brought the accumulated export to 85.9k MT (14% ahead of last year’s pace). 

The AM Boxed Beef quotes were shown as $295.19 for Choice and $287.86 for Select. That was up by $1.19 and by $3.84 respectively. The rib primals were shown as $457.58 and as $417.28 respectively. USDA estimated FI cattle slaughter at 123,000 head for Wednesday, which brought the week-to-date total to 363,000 head. That is down 13,000 head from last week and was 9,408 head behind the same week last year.
