Filmmaker Todd Phillips, who is gearing up for the release of his next, Joker: Folie à Deux, on Wednesday shared pictures of its lead stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as a special gift to fans on Valentine’s Day.

It is a tradition that Todd Phillipos has followed second year in a row, as last year on the same date he had dropped the first look of Lady Gaga. The new set of pictures–a total three–feature Phoenix and Gaga sharing moments of romance from Joker 2.

While the first features him in his Joker attire, the other has Gaga looking at Phoenix lovingly, with their noses brushing against each other’s. The third picture has the couple caught dancing on the terrace, with Phoenix in a tuxedo and Gaga in a beautiful dress.

“Hoping your day is full of love,” the filmmaker captioned the images, which naturally excited fans. “Todd!!!!!! I almost crashed my car!!! Thanks king :),” wrote a user, while another added, “So ready for the movie of the year.”

While Joaquin Phoenix stars in the much-awaited Joker sequel as Arthur Fleck, Lady Gaga is said to play a role inspired by the comic book character Harley Quinn.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the duo is known for their toxic romantic relationship in the comics, with the Folie à Deux title referencing the medical term for “an identical or similar mental disorder impacting two or more people, usually members of the same family.”

Joker: Folie à Deux is getting ready for an October 4 release. The first Joker had opened in 2019 and smashed box office records earning more than one billion at the box office. Joker had earned Phoenix an Oscar for his role in the film.
