Post Malone helped kick off the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday with a folky rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

With an acoustic guitar in tow, the heavily tattooed, genre-bending artist, 28, took the field at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nev., to sing the patriotic tune while dressed in a brown suit jacket, a white button-down shirt, a bolo tie and blue jeans.

Three days before his performance, Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, admitted he was “very nervous” but “excited” about the opportunity.

“It’s just fun and super epic to be able to go out there and sing a song so many beautiful artists have sang before on this stage,” the 10-time Grammy nominee told a crowd of reporters, including , during an Apple Music press conference in Las Vegas.

“America the Beautiful” has been a staple at the Super Bowl since the early aughts, with past performers including Ray Charles (2001), Jennifer Hudson (2013), John Legend (2015) and Babyface (2023).

This year’s pregame entertainment also saw country music superstar Reba McEntire and R&B singer Andra Day belt out the national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” respectively, before the Kansas City Chiefs took on the San Francisco 49ers.

Usher, meanwhile, will headline the halftime show.

“It definitely has been a challenge to squeeze 30 years [of music] into 13 minutes,” the “Yeah!” singer, 45, shared during Thursday’s press conference.

Usher also confirmed that he will bring out special guests, teasing, “I think I made it easy for myself when I decided to have features on songs that became hit records, so that gave me the greatest point of reference.”
