Actor Kangana Ranaut has reacted to filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s recent comments about being open to working with her. The actor took to social media and said that if she works with the Animal director, his characters would become feminists. Vanga’s filmmaking has been defined by hyper-violent male characters, who use anger to deflect inner turmoil. His recent film Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, emerged as a blockbuster despite criticism.

Kangana reposted a clip from a recent interview of Vanga, who praised her acting and said that he wouldn’t hesitate to work with her, even though she has criticised Animal publicly.

To this, Kangana replied in Hindi, “Review and criticism are not the same, every kind of art should be reviewed and discussed, it is a normal thing. The way Sandeep ji showed respect towards me by smiling at my review, it can be said that he not only makes manly films, his attitude is also manly, thank you sir.”

On the possibility of working with the Kabir Singh filmmaker, Kangana joked, “But please don’t ever give me any role otherwise your alpha male heroes will become feminist and then your films will also be beaten, you make blockbusters, the film industry needs you.”

Earlier, Kangana had criticised Sandeep’s film Animal on social media, calling it a film that encourages ‘woman-beating’. However, the filmmaker had taken Kangana’s feedback in a positive way and said, “I genuinely loved her performance in Queen, and so many other films. So if she is giving a negative comment about Animal, I don’t mind. I don’t get angry also cause I have seen her work… I don’t feel bad.”

Earlier in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Vanga revealed that he has a feminist story in mind, which he came up with even before he directed his 2019 film Kabir Singh. The filmmaker will soon begin work on Spirit, starring Prabhas, and then on a sequel to Animal, titled Animal Park.
