Actor Jiiva will soon be seen playing the role of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Yatra 2. In the first part of the film, the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s father, late politician YS Rajasekhara Reddy was played by Mammootty. Jiiva recently shared the advice the Malayalam superstar gave him regarding playing a politician.

Jiiva told India Today, “I met him when we did Anandham in 2001 as we produced it. After two decades, I met him again on the sets of Yatra 2. I spent a brief time with him, but it was the most fun. I asked him, ‘Sir, you played YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the first part. Did you face any problem?’ He said, ‘What problem? We are just actors’.”

The actor added, “I thanked him as it was thought-provoking. He also said that as actors, we move on to different characters. He also said, ‘Just because we do a movie on them, it doesn’t mean we support them, or you support their political party. You are a Tamil guy and you are an actor. For an actor, the world is our stage.'”

Yatra 2 is a biopic on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and is set to release on February 8. It is helmed by Mahi V Raghav, who also directed the first part. The upcoming film also stars Ketaki Narayan and Mahesh Manjrekar.
