Delhi Police has arrested the person who made the deepfake video of actor Rashmika Mandanna. The Pushpa actor took to her social media account to express gratitude towards the police and thank the people who supported her.
Rashmika wrote, “Expressing my heartfelt gratitude to @delhi.police_official. Thank you for apprehending those responsible. Feeling truly grateful for the community that embraces me with love, support and shields me. Girls and boys – if your image is used or morphed anywhere without your consent. It is wrong! And I hope this is a reminder that you are surrounded by people who will support you and action will be taken! Х (sic).”

In the deepfake video, Rashmika’s face was put on a British influencer’s body. The video went viral on the internet last November. Initially, it showed the influencer entering a lift in a black outfit, but then Rashmika’s face was cleverly added using technology.
Mrunal Thakur, Naga Chaitanya and Amitabh Bachchan, among others, voiced their support for Rashmika after the incident. Deepfake videos of Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Sachin Tendulkar, among others have also gone viral on social media.
A gaming app edited a video of Sachin Tendulkar for a fake promo. Mumbai Cyber Police filed a case after Sachin clarified on X that he never endorsed the app.
He clarified, “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and fake news.”
Rashmika Mandanna was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. The film became a huge hit upon its release. The actor is now working on Chava with Vicky Kaushal and also has Pushpa 2 in her kitty.
