Anything involving global superstar Angelina Jolie tends to grab headlines. In recent months, rumours have circulated that the Hollywood icon is dating renowned British rapper, journalist and activist Kingslee James McLean Daley, known professionally as Akala. Now, a new social media post has fuelled these rumors even further.
One of the most popular American actors worldwide, Angelina is also the founder of Atelier Jolie, a creative space where individuals can collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers, and artisans from around the globe. According to the establishment’s website, it utilises only leftover, quality vintage materials and deadstock, allowing creative minds to repair or upcycle pieces, thereby creating quality heirloom garments with personal meaning.

Recently, Atelier Jolie hosted Sudanese-Canadian poet and singer Mustafa Ahmed at its New York showroom on Great Jones Street. The event featured a special listening party and panel discussion for his debut album, Dunya, with Angelina interviewing Mustafa for the attendees.
While Atelier Jolie shared numerous photos from the event on its official Instagram, one picture stood out to many. In the photo, her rumoured boyfriend Akala is clearly visible, standing among the attendees as the camera’s focus is primarily on him. He is seen listening to a conversation, presumably between Angelina and Mustafa.

Although those close to Angelina have stated that she and Akala are not romantically involved, their frequent appearances together have intrigued fans. In August 2024, People reported that the two were not dating, citing a source who said, “She and Akala are not dating. She is friends with him and his partner, Chanelle, who was also there.” Another source told the publication that the two have been friends for “several years.” “They share the same passion when it comes to social and humanitarian causes,” they added.
The rumours blew up for the first time when they were seen leaving a hotel in Venice together. Since then, paparazzi have been closely following them, capturing photos whenever they are spotted together. Elle, however, reported that Chanelle was also travelling with Akala and Angelina in Italy but was “meticulously cropped out of paparazzi photos.” Angelina Jolie was previously married to actor Brad Pitt and from 2014 to 2019. She is mother to six children, with three of them being adopted. The actor has been associated with movements related to environmental conservation, education and women’s rights for years.
