Days after singer and spiritual healer Kenishaa Francis accused actor Jayam Ravi’s estranged wife Aarti Ravi and her family of “abusing” him, Aarti released a strongly worded statement asserting that her silence does not indicate weakness or guilt. She expressed her confidence in the legal system to deliver justice.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Aarti noted, “In light of the ongoing public commentary surrounding my personal life, I find it important to emphasise that my silence is not a sign of weakness or guilt.” She mentioned her decision to remain dignified rather than engage with those attempting to “portray me in bad light to conceal the truth”.

Aarti also went on to clarify her earlier use of the term “blindsided” regarding the recent events. “For some time, I have sought several opportunities to speak directly with my husband, hoping to have an open dialogue in a manner that honours the commitment we made to one another and to our family. Sadly, that opportunity was not afforded to me, leaving both my children and me completely blindsided by this announcement,” she mentioned in the statement shared a fortnight ago.

She specified that her reference to being blindsided was about “the public announcement that was claimed to have been issued through mutual consent”. “I maintain that this came as a shock and was not a reference to the unilateral divorce that is underway,” she added. Aarti ended the note by stating, “I deeply respect the sanctity of marriage and won’t engage in public discussions that hurt anyone’s reputation. My focus is on our family’s well-being, and I trust God’s grace for guidance.”

On September 9, Jayam Ravi took to social media to announce his separation from his wife. Following this, Aarti shared a note saying, “I was deeply shocked and saddened by the recent public announcement regarding our marriage, which was made without my knowledge or consent. After 18 years of shared history, I believe that such a significant matter should be handled with the grace, respect, and privacy that it deserves.” While many interpreted her comments as referring to the divorce, her latest statement clarified that she was specifically addressing his public announcement.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times shortly after, Ravi dismissed Aarti’s claims of being caught off guard, asserting that she had not responded to two legal notices sent by him. Meanwhile, rumours of him dating Kenishaa Francis began circulating and when asked about this at a recent event, Ravi reacted strongly, requesting that the media refrain from involving a third party.

Amidst this, Kenishaa recently told DT Next that she first met Ravi at the launch of her song “Idhai Yaar Solvaaro” and had limited contact afterward. She revealed that he, however, reached out to her in June this year for professional help, stating he was “mentally and emotionally bruised and battered” from his marriage.

“As a therapist, it was beyond painful for me to hear about his struggles with Aarti and her parents. No one deserves so much abuse, irrespective of the gender, and I can release all the evidence, with or without Ravi’s permission in the court of law, from my notes of our therapy sessions,” she added.
