Primanti Brothers restaurant denied claims that Ohio Senator JD Vance was “banned” from visiting their North Versailles location during a campaign stop on Saturday. The restaurant said the issue was a mix-up because their staff didn’t know ahead of time that Vance would be coming.

Sean Logue, the Washington County GOP Chair, said about 100 Trump supporters had shown up expecting Vance. According to Logue, the manager initially told the crowd that Vance couldn’t make a campaign stop there.

When Vance arrived, Logue said the manager told him he wasn’t allowed inside, and the police would be called if he entered. Vance stayed outside while one of his staff tried to talk with the manager. Many of the Trump supporters left the restaurant to meet him outside, where he took pictures.

Later, Primanti Brothers released a statement saying Vance and his team were eventually welcomed inside to talk with other guests. The restaurant explained that the sudden visit caused some confusion, but things were sorted out quickly.

Logue, however, wasn’t happy with how the situation was handled. He said Vance walked in briefly, paid the bill for everyone, and then left. Logue also noted that the restaurant hadn’t apologised for the incident.

Vance downplayed the situation, saying the manager probably got nervous with the large crowd and didn’t want the restaurant to become part of a political event. He encouraged his supporters to continue supporting the local business, calling it a “great local business.”

Primanti Brothers reassured that their restaurant is open to all guests, regardless of politics.
