Actor Ronit Roy is the latest celebrity to have come out against producer Vashu Bhagnani, who had not cleared his payment of working on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan until director Ali Abbas Zafar’s close associate didn’t intervene. Ronit joins a host of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan cast and crew, who have come out in support of Ali Abbas Zafar after he was accused by Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani of “criminal conspiracy” and “misappropriation of funds”.

In an interview with Zoom, Ronit said he was fortunate to have gotten a large part of his acting fees for his role in the film, which was headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. “The money was supposed to come from Vashu Bhagnani and it came from Vashu Bhagnani, but that happened only after Himanshu Mehra (who works with Ali Abbas Zafar) intervened. And when it came to the dues of my staff and my security company that guarded the sets in Mumbai, it was all very much delayed and we got that also due to Himanshu,” the actor said.

Ronit added that his staff was paid their dues from the Dubai subsidy at the “insistence” of Himanshu and added how he, along with Ali Abbas Zafar, are now going “all out to see that maximum payments are done in minimum time.” Ronit described his Bade Miyan Chote Miyan experience as “painful” and stated he would never work with the Bhagnanis again.

The Bhagnanis had filed a 17-page police complaint, detailing the production nightmare of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and claimed that director Ali Abbas Zafar, along with his business partners, “entrapped” them in their “criminal conspiracy”.

They had also accused Ali Abbas Zafar of “siphoning the subsidy funds he took from Abu Dhabi authorities” during the shoot of the film and for “hijacking” the film, which released in April this year and was a box office disaster.

Ronit refuted the claims that Zafar took over the control of the project and claimed Vashu Bhagnani was on set every day and it is “difficult to believe” how he, as a veteran, did not realise the film was being “hijacked” by the director. The actor said Ali Abbas Zafar not getting paid Rs 7 crore by the Bhagnanis is something he is aware of and said the figure is already common knowledge.
