Devara box office collection day 1 early report: Jr NTR’s latest action spectacle Devara has begun its box office journey with a bang. The film on its opening day is expected to gross Rs 140 crore worldwide, as per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk.

The Kortala Siva directorial opened to mixed reviews but that didn’t dent its collections on Day 1 much, as the film is still firmly on course to touch Rs 140 crore globally and lodge itself as one of the biggest Day 1 grossers of all time. If it stays on track as per the current trending, it would still be lesser than Prabhas-led Kalki 2898 AD, which had opened at the worldwide box office with Rs 191.5 crore.

The morning occupancy of Devara–in its original Telugu version– was a smashing 80 per cent, which held strongly at a little over 70 per cent in the afternoon. The evening shows will perform the best and will give a clear picture if the public reception has come into play.

According to trade analyst Gitesh Pandya, Devara registered a bigger box office opening in North America ($2.8 million from premiere shows) than Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Transformers One combined, which is about $2.5 million gross.

The all-India nett collections of Devara Part 1 before the evening shows rolled out was Rs 45 crore, and the film will likely trend higher from this point onwards. Devara marks the Telugu debut of both Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. The film also stars Prakashraj, Meka Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, Narain, and Murali Sharma.

The film was initially announced as a standalone movie but was later split into two parts. Devara will enjoy a clear run at the box office, with no new films in sight. It will also be interesting to see how much Devara impacts the trending of Stree 2 in the Hindi belt, as the horror comedy is still doing decent numbers after creating history.
