Amid intense bombing by Israeli forces inside Lebanon targeting Hezbollah, US President Joe Biden on Wednesday warned of the possibility of an “all-out war” in the Middle East, though he expressed hope for finding a path to prevent further violence.

Speaking in an interview on ABC’s The View’, Biden’s remarks followed several days of intensifying clashes between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, which have already resulted in hundreds of deaths and raised concerns of a wider conflict in the Middle East.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hezbollah launched a long-range missile towards Tel Aviv, while Israel responded by targeting areas in the mountains north of Beirut for the first time in the ongoing conflict. This marked a significant escalation in the cross-border aerial warfare.

Health authorities reported that the death toll from three days of Israeli airstrikes had surpassed 600, with thousands more injured. The United Nations stated that 90,000 people had been displaced since Monday, in addition to over 200,000 who had already fled southern Lebanon over the past year due to the ongoing exchanges of fire between Hezbollah and Israel.
