Actor Abhishek Banerjee is currently basking in the success of Stree 2, which has already achieved numerous significant milestones at the box office, providing a strong boost to his career. It was also recently announced that he will be sharing the screen with megastar Amitabh Bachchan next in the movie Section 84. In a recent interview with Switch, Abhishek expressed his deep admiration for Bollywood’s Shahenshah and recalled their first encounter, during which he received a scolding from Big B.
Abhishek first met Amitabh Bachchan in June of last year. Reflecting on the experience, he shared a photo with the legend on social media, writing, “I learnt so many important life lessons just by spending few days on set with you sir .. and finally I can say I went to an acting school.”

Sharing that they went to the same college — Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi — Abhishek told Switch, “When I first met Mr Bachchan, I touched his feet and he scolded me saying ‘don’t do this!’ I was just honouring him and he got offended. So I started to wonder how do I break the ice with him. The director Ribhu Dasgupta introduced us and told him that we went to the same college. He was very happy to learn that I was from his college. I cannot explain such things in words. I cannot take him out of me, it’s impossible. Any performance I do, I pay him a tribute in my way. It is said that you should not imitate your heroes, but do something getting inspired by them.”
He also explained how when Amitabh Bachchan enters a set, the atmosphere suddenly changes. “I have a video of him coming on set for the first time. I wanted to capture that moment of him walking into the set. He has a huge aura. There is pin-drop silence on the set. It feels like an encyclopedia of cinema walking in. All of us combined cannot match Big B’s dedication and energy,” Abhishek Banerjee added.

The Stree 2 actor also heaped praise on Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan recently at IIFA’s press conference. He had exclusively told Indianexpress.com, “Last year, I was nominated alongside Shah Rukh sir for Best Supporting Actor, I didn’t care about winning that award. I just wanted to see him. Unfortunately, I got caught up in a shoot and couldn’t meet him. I feel the 140 crore population admires him.” Other than Section 84, Abhishek Banerjee will be seen hosting IIFA Rocks alongside Siddharth Chaturvedi.
