Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal will start streaming from January 26 on Netflix and will be different from the theatrical cut. It will be an extended cut of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer and will include some deleted scenes. In an interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirmed that the online version will be longer than the theatrical version.

The theatrical version of Animal was 3 hours and 21 minutes long. According to reports, the online version of the film will be eight minutes longer, making the runtime 209 minutes in total. Sandeep said that he will now be using those few minutes to add more layers to the story. The deleted scenes, which are added to the extended cut, feature Rashmika Mandanna’s Geetanjali Singh.

The update has created a frenzy among fans of Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor. Including deleted scenes as a part of the online version of a film is not a new strategy to increase the viewership. The move brings in more viewership for films as even the ones who watched the film in theatres will stream it to see what they missed.

Animal, also starring Triptii Dimri, Bobby Deol, Prithviraj, and Anil Kapoor, is about a toxic father-son relationship. The film received several backlash for its misogyny and excessive violence. However, despite the negative reviews and controversies, the film managed to become a box office success with a collection of over Rs 900 crore. Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor will again team up for a sequel of the film, which is called Animal Park.

Animal will premiere on Netflix on Republic Day.
