This Sankranti, Telugu distributors, and theatre owners were spoilt for choices since Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga, Hanu Man, and Saindhav released at the same time. Producers had to come together to ask the makers of Ravi Teja’s Eagle to postpone the release to February, and the Telugu star was promised a solo release on February 9. Despite the stiff competition, Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram has emerged as the winner in this race. While trade reports claim that the film’s box office collection has crossed over Rs 150 crore as per trade estimates, the makers have claimed that the film has made Rs 212 crore globally in gross collections.

The domestic box office collection of Guntur Kaaram stands at Rs 106.4 crore, according to Sacnilk. However, as per a tweet by Haarika & Hassine Creations, the makers of Guntur Kaaram, the film has collected Rs 212 crore globally. The figure was released with a special poster. The makers have also claimed that this is a record number for any regional film in India.

“GunturKaaram grosses over a smashing 212 crore worldwide in its 1st Week. All-time record (Highest for a regional cinema),” read the tweet.

The high number is despite heavy competition from Hanu Mani, which is also inching towards the Rs 100-crore mark at the box office. According to reports, Hanu Man has collected over Rs 90 crore at the box office, despite featuring a new star cast. With the weekend approaching, both films are expected to continue the dream theatrical tune.

Directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Guntur Kaaram also stars Meenakshi Chaudhry, Sreeleela, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj, and Ramya Krishnan in important roles.
