We are just days away from the release of Devara Part-1, which marks the first film of Jr NTR after the massive global success of RRR. The Koratala Siva directorial is set to hit the screens on September 27, and the team is on a promotional drive all over the country to ensure that the pan-Indian movie, featuring the likes of Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, becomes a smashing success.

In one of the promotional events, Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga sat down with the team of Devara, including Jr NTR, Saif, Janhvi, and director Siva, to discuss a lot of things about the film, and set the tone for the film’s movie. Although Janhvi is new to the Telugu film industry, she has strong connections courtesy the stellar career of her mother and superstar Sridevi.

In fact, the late actor featured in some of the biggest successes in Telugu cinema, and her pairing with the legendary actor and former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao continues to be iconic. Bringing this connection to the fore, Sandeep discussed the curiosity among the Telugu audience to see Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi share screen space with NT Rama Rao’s grandson Jr NTR in Devara.

Here’s the video:

Talking about the way Janhvi Kapoor embodies her legendary mother, Jr NTR said, “I remember, there was this photoshoot where we did a look test of sorts. There was this picture of hers where she was sitting on the boat and looking at the camera. She looked so much like Sridevi garu.” The Simhadri star also spoke about how this resemblance is something ingrained in his Devara co-star. “In certain angles, she definitely looks like her. But, it is in the way she performs, and the way she smiles. It brings the reminiscence of Sridevi garu.”

Expressing how this phenomenon happened in Devara, Janhvi said, “I don’t know how to explain it, but I feel that more when I perform and speak in Telugu. It felt like home to me.”

While it is understandable that Janhvi felt at home in Telugu cinema, Saif Ali Khan, who was also making his debut in Telugu with Devara, revealed how Jr NTR’s demeanour made things easy. “He is such a lovely co-star, who had no massive attitude or a larger-than-life persona off camera. He was a normal, fun guy, who made me feel really welcome,” said Saif, who also expressed admiration for the way Jr NTR transformed into a star when the camera started rolling.

“On camera, he seemed to grow taller and stronger. He is larger than life. That is a remarkable quality. After the director says ‘cut,’ he is back to normal. It was very magical to watch it,” said the Adipurush actor.

With music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Rathnavelu, Devara-Part 1, which is being released as a duology, is bankrolled by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts.
