The Buckingham Murders box office collection day 1: Kareena Kapoor-starrer The Buckingham Murders had a limited release with just over 1300 shows being screened across India. With limited shows, the Hansal Mehta directorial film has opened to Rs 1.15 crore, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. The crime thriller opened to mixed reviews upon its release on September 13. However, critics praised Kareena Kapoor for her exceptional performance throughout the film. This also marks her return to the big screen for the second time in 2024 after Crew.

The Buckingham Murders, which is primarily an English language film, had an overall 9.99 percent occupancy on Friday with majority of the crowd watching the night show. The Kareena Kapoor-starrer had a total of 370 shows in Delhi/NCR, and just 238 shows in the Mumbai region.

Last year’s surprise hit 12th Fail, which starred Vikrant Massey, also had a limited release. But due to good word of mouth, the film went on to become one of the most successful films of the year. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial opened at the box office with Rs 1.11 crore. However, it earned a lifetime collection of over Rs 70 crore nett in India.

With no big releases scheduled for this week, Kareena Kapoor’s crime thriller might see an increase in its collection over the weekend. The Buckingham Murders revolves around a British-Indian detective who is dealing with a personal loss and has been assigned the case of a murdered child in Buckinghamshire. The film is jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
