In a rare event which marked the 23rd year of the brutal September 11 attack at the New York City site, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump made a joint appearance on Wednesday.
The terror attack which happened on September 11, 2001 killed nearly 3,000 people. Republican candidate Trump shook hands with Democratic candidate Harris and exchanged a few words despite their challenging debate a night earlier and then lined up for the commemoration.

In the commemoration, there weren’t any formal remarks at the main site where the two planes brought down the twin towers of the World Trade Centre.
The family members, including wives, husbands, sisters, brothers and grandchildren read out the names of those killed in the attack in 2001.

In a statement, President Biden said “On this day 23 years ago, terrorists believed they could break our will and bring us to our knees. They were wrong. They will always be wrong. In the darkest of hours, we found light. And in the face of fear, we came together – to defend our country, and to help one another.”
Former President Trump planned to visit the Pennsylvania memorial and told Fox News that “It was a very, very sad, horrible day. There’s never been anything like it.”
The attacks were executed by the suicide attackers of al Qaeda Islamist terrorists. Two planes destroyed WTC’s twin towers and another plane went into Pentagon while the fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania field after passengers were able to storm the cockpit.
