Kareena Kapoor Khan has been in the film industry since she was 20. The actress, who is set to turn 44 this September, is gearing up for the release of her film, The Buckingham Murders. As the actress continues to stay relevant in the industry with her work, Kareena recently spoke about facing moments of insecurities as well as how she is dealing with ageism, in a new interview.

In an interview with Harper Bazaar, the Crew star was asked if she ever experienced moments of insecurity. To which, Kareena quickly replied, “I am very content with my life and career.” She further explained, “I have achieved everything I set out to, and I am happy that people around the world appreciate my work. I never had a burning ambition into Hollywood or act in English language films; my ambitions are about meaningful work and staying true to myself. I am ambitious, but I am also grounded in what I have and where I am.”

Kareena, who is known as a fashionista, also said that she would want people to know her through her work and not just her appearance. She said, “I have never chased that side of life. It’s just the way I am, and it’s changed a lot in the last decade. I am much happier and more comfortable in this space now.”

She added, “Today’s media landscape is different, with a lot of pressure to look perfect. However, staying true to oneself is what resonates. It’s rare to be genuinely yourself in a world that often demands perfection.”

Speaking about ageism, the Jab We Met actress shared how she has changed over the years. She said, “In my teens, I was just a Punjabi Kapoor, enjoying food and life without much concern. Transitioning to size zero for a role was never planned–it was just something I did. I never imagined it would spark such a craze. Today, I focus on feeling good and being comfortable with who I am.”

Talking about her age, the actress said, “Age is a part of beauty.” She explained, “It’s not about fighting lines or trying to look younger; it’s about embracing and loving the age you’re at. I’m 44 and have never felt better. I don’t feel the need for Botox or any cosmetic enhancements. My husband finds me sexy, my friends say I look amazing, and my films are thriving. I play roles that reflect my age and am proud of it. I want people to see me for who I am and appreciate that.”
