Actor Vikas Sethi died on Saturday night after suffering a cardiac arrest in his sleep. He was 48. While the actor was a part of a few popular TV shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, and Sasural Simar Ka, he also played a small yet memorable role in Karan Johar’s film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But do you know that one-scene role was first offered to John Abraham?

John Abraham on his outing on Karan’s popular chat show, Koffee With Karan’s Season one, where he came along with Vivek Oberoi, revealed that the filmmaker had offered him the role in his film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. “He offered me the role of Robbie who was Kareena’s boyfriend. Karan so sincerely offered me that film, he was like, ‘John, it’s a lovely role and this and that…,” shared the actor on the show.

Vikas Sethi played Robbie in the Kareena Kapoor starrer Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

A visibly embarrassed Karan interrupted John and added, “He had like one scene and one dialogue in the movie.” John refused to do the role, “I was like, ‘Karan, don’t mind, I really don’t want to do it.”

Karan also shared that he never thought that John would become a good actor. Karan said, “I knew John because I was one of the judges when John was on Gladrags. He came to me and I was like, ‘Poor fellow, why does he want to become a hero? I thought he is the kind of model who would be great on the ramp but definitely not on screen. This is why, when he came to me, I told him, ‘You should weigh your options and do other things.’ I never thought…”

John added that after he won the title at the talent hunt he went to Karan for some advice about what roles he should do and Karan offered him Robbie. “In the entire film (K3G), I kept on looking for Robbie.. I couldn’t see Robbie,” said John on the show. Karan laughed and apologised to John, “I am sorry about that. I never thought you will reach this stage.”

Vikas eventually played Robbie, Kareena’s date in the film.
