One of the most successful onscreen jodis in Hindi cinema is Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Between 2006 and 2010, they starred in some of the biggest money spinners in Hindi cinema. Although they took a decade-long break after 2010, they reunited in 2020 for Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. With the reel couple continuing to be one of the favourites of the audience, an old interview of Akshay Kumar praising Katrina Kaif’s commitment to her career has resurfaced on social media.

In the interview, Akshay opens up about many things about Katrina, including the one aspect of her that he adores the most. “She didn’t know a word of Hindi when she started working in Hindi cinema. I don’t know how she believed she would become a big heroine here. It is impossible to fathom, right? How can someone not know the language at all and become the heroine. But she did. I salute her for thinking that way,” said Akshay who has worked with Katrina in films like Namaste London, Singh is King, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Welcome, and Tees Maar Khan.

Underscoring her commitment through one more instance, Akhsay Kumar reminisced about working with Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan, and the cult classic song, “Sheila Ki Jawani”. “Katrina faced a big challenge while filming Sheila ki jawani. She had to do belly dancing for the song. With three weeks of relentless practice, she danced so well for the song,” said Akshay, ending his praises by adding, “If I was wearing a hat, I would have taken it off for her.”
