While there is no doubt that Alia Bhatt is one of Indian cinema’s top-tier talents, her avatar as a producer is proving to be an interesting aspect of her career. After the success of the Netflix dark comedy Darlings, Alia is back in the producer’s chair for the upcoming film, Jigra. Directed by Vasan Bala, the movie, also starring Vedang Raina, is an action-packed prison break film featuring a doting sister who would go to any lengths to save her brother.

The teaser opens with a grim-looking Alia talking about having no one in her life except her brother, who is fighting a race against time.

Here’s the teaser:

With the “Phoolon ka Taaron” song playing in the background, we are shown how a bloodied Alia Bhatt fights against all odds, and becomes a hero to help her brother, played by Vedang Raina, imprisoned in a foreign prison. She is helped in this endeavour by Manoj Pahwa and Rahul Ravindran.

The teaser oscillates between the sibling love, and how Alia’s character explodes prison walls, bursts through flames in a car, and escapes bullets and bombs to ensure she is able to hug her brother one more time.

Along with Alia Bhatt, the film is backed by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shaheen Bhatt and Somen Mishra, and co-produced by Marijke DeSouza. Written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala, Jigra will hit the screens on October 11.
