Stree 2 box office collection day 20: Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s horror comedy continued its sensational run even on its third Tuesday, showcasing a hold which helped it cruise past the lifetime record of the mighty SS Rajamouli film, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. With Rs 515 crore in the bank so far, the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer has overtaken Baahubali 2, which had netted Rs 511 cr in the Hindi language.

Showing no signs of weekday fatigue, the film remained steady on its third Tuesday, netting Rs 6 cr according to industry tracker Sacnilk. In terms of worldwide collections, Stree 2 had already grossed Rs 700 cr, and is now projected to hit Rs 850 cr in its lifetime run.

For a mid-sized horror comedy mounted on a reported budget of Rs 130 cr, the business has been fantastic. It’s one of the most profitable movies to enter the Rs 500 cr club.

With Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency now pushed from its September 6 release date, Stree 2 will have an open run for another week. To note, Stree 2 had clashed with two other films– Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa — but both films fizzled out after week one. Stree 2 has since had an uncontested run.

Stree 2 is now ranked fourth on the list of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time in India, and will now aim to topple the likes of Pathaan and Gadar 2 by the end of the weekend. It is also on course to chase down the historic collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (Rs 584 cr) and emerge as the number one film of all time at the box office.
