Kartik Aaryan’s fans are delighted that he will soon return to the romantic comedy genre with the sequel of his 2019 superhit Pati Patni Aur Woh with Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. Filmmaker Mudassar Aziz, who directed the first film has confirmed that he is now working on the sequel, his next project after helming Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein.

Aziz, in an interview with indianexpress.com gave an update on the sequel of Pati Patni Aur Woh. He said, “That’s going to be my next film as a director. That’s what I am working on right now. We are in the process of finalising several things. Obviously, since I am setting out to take that on as the next installment of the idea of Man Woman, and Her all over again, I can promise it will not be run of the mill. I will provide a very interesting perspective from a woman’s standpoint and a lot of laughs.”

Pati Patni Aur Woh was released in cinemas in 2019 with Kartik leading the film and Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday playing female protagonists. However, there was no update on whether the female leads will be a part of the sequel.

Without giving a firm confirmation on the final starcast, Aziz said that in all the sequels he has directed (including Happy Bhag Jaayegi and Happy Phir Bhaag Jaayegi) the starcast has remained the same. “So I am not ready to make any announcements yet. However, I am working towards a sequel, which in itself is self-explanatory. I am working towards a sequel, I don’t believe in franchises. Even when I went from Happy Bhag Jaayegi to Happy Phir Bhag Jaayegi, you could not forget Bagga (played by Jimmy Sheirgill), Afridi (played by Piyush Mishra) and Happy (played by Diana Penty) to begin with. I like making sequels. However, making announcements vis-a-vis who is finalised and who is not finalised, and who the cast is, will be the studio and the producers’ prerogative,” Aziz concluded.
