Stree 2 box office collection day 14: Filmmaker Amar Kaushik’s blockbuster horror comedy sequel is steadily setting new benchmarks almost every day, and Wednesday was no different. Completing two weeks in theatres, Stree 2 also broke its biggest record— overtaking the lifetime Hindi language collections of the Yash-fronted actioner KGF Chapter 2.

Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the horror comedy registered its lowest single-day earnings since its release on August 15, but the numbers were still impressive enough to break KGF 2’s record. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film saw a major dip on Wednesday as it netted collections in the range of Rs 9.25 cr.

Taking into account the official collections, Stree 2 has now netted an estimated Rs 445 cr at the domestic box office, surpassing KGF Chapter’s record of Rs 435 cr. With this, Stree 2 is now ranked 6th on the list of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time. Globally, the film had already crossed the Rs 600 cr mark on Tuesday. Though there has been an expected fall in collections, Stree 2 will still smoothly enter the third weekend with major spike in collections. It is likely to enter the Rs 500 cr club by Monday.

In its third week, Stree 2 will then be chasing almost four immediate records, starting with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (Rs 505 cr) SS Rajamouli’s epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 511 cr) and then Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, which stand at Rs 524 cr and Rs 525 cr, respectively.

Stree 2 is likely to chase down all these records by next weekend, as there is an open run with no new releases to hamper its showcasing. When it does that, Stree 2 will position itself as the second-highest grosser of all time, and then begin its journey towards chasing the lifetime record of Jawan, which stands at a whopping Rs 584 cr.

This year, the only two Hindi films which are likely to challenge the collections set by Stree 2 will be Kartik Aaryan-led horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, which is headlined by Ajay Devgn and also stars Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff and Arjun Kapoor. Both the films, however, are as of now set to clash on Diwali.
