On Tuesday, the John Abraham-starrer Vedaa marked its lowest single-day haul since its release on Independence Day. While it had already failed the Monday test by earning just Rs 1.5 crore, despite it being a holiday on account of Raksha Bandhan, the film witnessed a drop of over 50% at the box office on Tuesday, with a collection of just Rs 60 lakh, according to the early estimates by industry tracker, Sacnilk.

Also starring Sharvari Wagh, the film has failed to impress moviegoers despite earning some praise for the actors’ performances. The clash with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 is also a key factor in the film’s under performance. Vedaa’s total domestic collections stand at Rs 16.1 crore. The John Abraham-starrer isn’t just trailing Stree 2, but also Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, which is also suffering at the box office, with a six-day collection of Rs 17.15 crore.

Vedaa witnessed an overall occupancy of just 15.60% across India on Tuesday. The film had an occupancy of 15.25% in Mumbai with 187 shows. In the National Capital Region, the film witnessed an overall occupancy of 17.75% with 232 shows. In cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, and Surat, the film has been given limited showcasing, ranging between 17 and 83.

The film, directed by Nikkhil Advani, marks yet another flop of John Abraham after Attack and Ek Villain Returns in 2022. Attack, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 80 crore, earned just Rs 22.07 crore worldwide. Similarly, Ek Villain Returns, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 62 to 80 crore, earned Rs 68.64 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. John Abraham was also seen in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan, which was a huge success.

Meanwhile, Sharvari Wagh, who was seen in Maharaj and Munjya, tasted success with the release of the latter at the box office. The cast and director of Vedaa attended a success bash for the film a couple of days ago.
