Renowned for never holding back her opinions or mincing words while addressing any topic, actor Kangana Ranaut has launched another scathing attack on Bollywood, accusing its members, particularly actors, of being highly narcissistic. The Queen actor also mentioned that she has no friends in the film industry because she doesn’t want to associate with people who can’t converse about anything beyond branded bags and luxury cars.

I am not a Bollywood kind of person. I can’t be friends with Bollywood people for sure,” she said while speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast recently. “They are so full of themselves. They are stupid, dumb and all about protein shakes. I have seen enough Bollywood people to know that.”

“If they are not shooting, their routine is: wake up in the morning, do some physical training, sleep in the afternoon, wake up, go to gym and again sleep at night or watch TV. They’re like grasshoppers, totally blank. How can you be friends with such people? They have no idea what’s going on where. They have no (meaningful) conversations. They just meet, drink and go, ‘Hey babe, what a bag! Oh my god, I love that bag.’ I would be shocked to find a decent person in Bollywood who can talk beyond branded bags and cars,” she said. Kangana, however, said that she’s met a few writers and directors who aren’t like that.

She also took a swipe at Bollywood parties. “The conversations that happen at Bollywood parties are embarrassing.” The actor further mimicked a voice, representing such celebrities who discuss their schedules, body weights, diets and dating rumours. “It’s trauma… a Bollywood party for me is like trauma,” Kangana added.

After a slew of box office bombs, Kangana Ranaut is now gearing up for the release of her biographical political drama Emergency, which also marks her debut as an independent director. Based on the Indian Emergency, Kangana herself stars in the lead role as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Also featuring Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman and Satish Kaushik, the movie will hit the screens on September 6.
