The much-awaited musical drama film Mufasa: The Lion King is all set to hit the big screen in December. Months before its release, the makers have released the Hindi trailer of the film with Shah Rukh Khan collaborating with his sons Aryan and AbRam. After the blockbuster success of 2019’s live-action The Lion King, Mufasa: The Lion King is both a prequel and a sequel to the film where Rafiki tells the story of two lions, Mufasa and Taka (Scar) to Kiara–the granddaughter of Mufasa and daughter of Simba and Nala.

The trailer of the film, directed by Barry Jenkins, introduces the viewers to an orphaned cub called Mufasa, a sympathetic lion named Taka–the heir to a royal bloodline–and their expansive journey alongside an extraordinary group of misfits. For the film’s Hindi version, Shah Rukh Khan has returned as Mufasa along with his sons Aryan Khan, who is the voice behind Simba and AbRam as young Mufasa.

The trailer begins with Rafiki telling Kiara, “It’s time to tell you a story, a cub’s story.” The trailer shows a young Taka finding a lost Mufasa and fighting his family to include him in the clan. The next few sequences show the strong bonding between Mufasa and Taka, and the latter expressing his desire of always wanting a brother. As the story takes a turn, the head of the clan asks Mufasa and Taka to navigate their own journey and rest of the story unfolds.

Talking about his association with the film, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Mufasa has an incredible legacy and stands as the ultimate king of the jungle, imparting his wisdom to his son, Simba. I deeply relate to him as a father and also resonate with Mufasa’s journey in the film.”

He added, “‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, depicts Mufasa’s life from childhood to his rise as an incredible king, and revisiting this character has been exceptional. It’s a special collaboration for me with Disney, particularly because my sons, Aryan and AbRam, are part of this journey and sharing this experience with them is truly meaningful.”

The film, produced by Walt Disney Stuidos, is all set to release in India on December 20 in Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu.
