With the rise of paparazzi culture in India, Bollywood celebrities must always be camera-ready in public. However, the pressure to look impeccable in front of the public eye is not new. In a recent interaction, veteran journalist Roshmila Bhattacharya opened up about how Shabana Azmi reprimanded her for publishing an unflattering picture in an interview. She also revealed how Dharmendra would send his photos to accompany his interview so he could control the quality of the photos.

Speaking on the YouTube channel Inconversation with Ishan, Roshmila recalled Shabana Azmi’s rebuke, saying, “I remember once I was out of the office, and Shabana ji’s interview was published the next day. She called me the following day and was really angry. She said, ‘I never expected this from you. How could you be so insensitive?’ I didn’t know what had happened because I was on leave. I listened to her concerns and later explained that I wasn’t in the office when the photo was selected.”

During the conversation, Roshmila also shared her fond memories of Dharmendra. She revealed that the actor was known for showing affection towards those he appreciated. She recalled that Dharmendra would often end his interviews with her with a shayari.

Roshmila also admitted that Dharmendra would send his preferred photographs to journalists and bless them after the article was published. She said, “Dharam ji is lovely. He would always say, ‘Mera achha photo dalna’ (publish a good photo of mine) and send a photograph from his own collection. Whenever the article was published and I shared the link with him, he would see the photograph and say, ‘You have written it very well.’ He would also call the next day after the article was published, bless me, and say, ‘Bahut bhadiya, bahut achha likha hai‘ (Very good, you wrote it well), God bless you and stay happy.”

Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi last shared screen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which starred Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
