Matt Damon’s marriage is a real-life romantic comedy.
The actor and his wife, Luciana Damon (née Barroso), have been an item since 2003 and share four daughters.
The pair, who keep their relationship primarily out of the spotlight, don’t just work well at home — Matt has also credited his partner as an asset to his career.
In 2023, the movie star said on the “Today” show that Luciana “pull[ed him] out of a career depression.”
When the duo co-produced “The Investigators” the following year, he clarified to “Entertainment Tonight” that she had been “reading every script and watching every cut of every movie [of his] for 21 years.”

Before Matt and Luciana met in Miami in 2003, the Oscar winner was romantically linked to Minnie Driver and Winona Ryder — but told the Washington Post that he would “never” date a celebrity again.
“It kind of magnifies exponentially the whole part of this thing that I don’t like, and that really gets in the way of doing my job and interferes with the life part of life,” he said at the time.
As for Luciana, she was previously married to Arbello Barroso, with whom she welcomed daughter Alexia.
Miami meet-cute
Matt was in Florida filming “Stuck on You” in 2003 when he met Luciana at a bar where she was bartending.
The Golden Globe winner hid behind the bar to avoid attention from fans — so Luciana “put him to work.”
She told Vogue Australia in 2018, “He started making drinks. … It turned into a really fun night. We definitely had a connection right away, it was so easy to talk to each other, we were very comfortable.”
Matt subsequently “invited [her] to go out with his friends,” which Luciana skipped to take care of her then-4-year-old.
The producer detailed the experience on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2011, saying he noticed Luciana from “across the room.”
He noted, “Eight years and four kids later, that’s my life. I don’t know how else our paths would’ve crossed if that didn’t happen.”
Husband and wife
Reports surfaced in September 2005 that Matt had proposed to Luciana, and the couple tied the knot three months later in a Manhattan civil ceremony attended by Michael Bloomberg.
Alexia was 7 at the time, and the “Goodwill Hunting” star spoke to Parade in 2020 about becoming her stepfather.
“I jumped into the deep end. … I was an extra dad,” Matt said, adding that his heart grew “five times its size” like in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
Girl gang
Luciana gave birth to their first child together, daughter Isabella, in June 2006, followed by Gia and Stella in August 2008 and October 2010, respectively.
The siblings have made rare red carpet appearances with their parents over the years, with the whole family celebrating the “Investigators” premiere in July 2024.
Matt has all of the girls’s names, as well as Luciana’s, in tattooed tributes on one of his arms.
Star-studded ceremony
Eight years their private New York City nuptials — and a decade after their meet-cute — Matt and Luciana renewed their vows in St. Lucia.
reported in 2013 that the pair paid $1 million to rent out an entire Caribbean resort for the occasion.
Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner and more A-listers were in attendance.
Vacation vibes
Over the years, Matt and Luciana have been caught looking loved-up on camera during multiple tropical vacations.
The pair packed on the PDA in Greece in July 2023.
The following year, Matt couldn’t keep his hands off of his bikini-clad wife while they relaxed at a Mykonos beach.
