Riddhima Kapoor Sahani reflected on the tough phase the Kapoor family faced a few years ago as they dealt with the losses of family members — while her father Rishi Kapoor died in April 2020, uncle Rajiv Kapoor passed away in February 2021. Earlier, Riddhima’s aunt Ritu Nanda died of cancer in January 2021.

Riddhima, who will be seen making her debut in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives season 3, accepted that the years have been challenging but at the same time, the family united to face the harrowing circumstances. “We’ve got closer since then. A little bit more,” she said in an interview with Anushka Arora. Riddhima is the elder sister of actor Ranbir Kapoor and daughter of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor.

She added, “We just look out for each other, so it’s just brought the family very very close because a lot of people, a lot of family members have passed on. I am not talking about my immediate family, I am talking about even the extended family. You know, all of us have become closer and more united. We call each other up every other day, we are on FaceTime, we don’t have to meet every other day, or every single day, but at least we know what is happening with each other, so definitely it has brought us very very close.”

Earlier, Ranbir had also spoken about Rishi’s death ahead of his film, Animal’s release. “I lost my father in the last few years and I think everyone who loses a parent, they always feel they never spent enough time with them. While I was growing up, my father was very busy. He was shooting most of the time, that too, double shifts-triple shifts. He was travelling everywhere so there was not a really friendly relationship between us. We couldn’t just sit and chat, and I really have that one regret in my life. I wish I could be friends with my father. I wish I could share more with him, which is one regret I always live with. I respected him but we were never friendly. But I’m glad I have a daughter to love. When God takes away something, he also gives something back,” Ranbir said.
