Actor couple Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s first-born son Taimur became an internet star as soon as he was born. Right from the time he was a little baby, the paparazzi started clicking him and Taimur became a household name with his pictures and videos flooding social media. But it was stressful period, his nanny Lalita Dsilva recalled, as she had to shield him from unwanted media attention.

Paps in Mumbai would be permanently stationed outside Kareena and Saif’s residence, capturing Taimur’s daily activities– right from his walks to him going to school, who would often be spotted with Lalita Dsilva, a pediatric nurse with over 30 years of experience.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Dsilva recalled how the paparazzi would always have their lenses turned towards the toddler, and why she had to protect him from the media gaze.

“There was pressure from the public and media. I would have to tell people ‘yeh baccha hai, don’t chase him, why are you behaving like this’ I had to tell mothers ‘I know Taimur is very cute, his parents are also cute and handsome, but take care of your kids also, click your own children’s pics.’ Bahut pressure tha, but I managed. I had no experience of clearing the media or stop them from clicking pics, but I managed. I was very concerned for Taimur’s safety, that he should be kept secure from all this,” she added.

During Express Adda last year, Kareena had revealed that being photographed regularly led Taimur, then aged four, to ask her and Saif why were people clicking him.

“He was quite smart because he knew that we were actors, as I had told him we were in the movies. And he just turned around and told me, ‘But I am not famous. Why are they clicking my picture?'” Kareena had added that Taimur has now gotten used to it. “But he knows that he’s not famous and he doesn’t like it.”
