Lean hogs are resuming this week’s climb on Friday, with midday gains of 47 cents to $1.45. The USDA National Base Hog price was reported at $82.33 on Friday morning, down 47 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was $89.27 on July 17, up 47 cents from the previous day. 

USDA reported the Friday AM Pork Cutout Value $2.49 higher at $102.74. All of the primals were reported higher, with the ham up $4.23 and leading the way. USDA estimated Thursday’s FI hog slaughter at 475,000 head, which takes this week’s total to 1.909 million head. That was 19,000 head above last week and 48,895 head larger than the same week last year.

Aug 24 Hogs  are at $91.850, up $0.475,

Oct 24 Hogs  are at $74.725, up $0.700

Dec 24 Hogs  is at $67.050, up $1.350,
