The Dhanush-starrer Captain Miller was released on the occasion of Pongal, receiving praise from critics and enjoying a strong opening at the global box office on its first day. As per a report on Sacnilk, the film amassed Rs 8.7 crore on Friday. The film is expected to rake in an additional Rs 6.75 crore on Saturday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 15.45 crore.

On Saturday, Captain Miller maintained an overall occupancy of 43.51 percent for the Tamil version and 10.05 percent for the Hindi version. Despite facing competition from Sivakarthikeyan’s Ayalaan, the Dhanush-starrer outshone its counterpart, which collected Rs 3.2 crore on its opening day and is projected to reach Rs 4.25 crore on Saturday, resulting in a total domestic collection of Rs 7.45 crore.

In addition to Ayalaan, Captain Miller faced competition from other releases on Friday, including Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif’s Merry Christmas, and Teja Sajja’s HanuMan. Although Guntur Kaaram boasted the highest opening numbers, amassing Rs 41.3 crore on day one, other films also put up decent performances at the box office.

Merry Christmas began its box office journey with Rs 2.55 crore, increasing to Rs 3.50 crore on Saturday, while HanuMan made a significant impact with Rs 8.05 crore on Friday and an impressive Rs 12.53 crore on Saturday.

Captain Miller garnered rave reviews from critics, with Kirubhakar Purushothaman of Indianexpress.com awarding the film 4 stars. In his review, he praised the film’s intricate storytelling, noting, “At any given instance, multiple story arcs keep unraveling with incredible lucidity. Not even a single moment goes to waste.”

Captain Miller is directed by Arun Matheshwaran and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. It stars Dhanush, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sundeep Kishan, Shivarajkumar, and Edward Sonnenblick in key roles.
