Vivek Oberoi became an actor in the early 2000s but in the last few years, he has been focusing on his entrepreneurial journey. Now, in a recent interview, the actor said that he has been a businessman in the making since he was 10 years old and his father trained him to be an entrepreneur even before he started training as an actor. Vivek said that when he was just 10, his father, veteran actor Suresh Oberoi, would supply him with merchandise, and he had the job of selling it. He was allowed to keep the profits and had to return the supply cost to his father and this is how he learnt how to maintain accounts.

Vivek said that when he was still in school, every summer break, his father would bring in some kind of merchandise and encourage Vivek to sell it using his skills. “The day school would get over, the next day my father would get some products. It could be electronics, perfumes, different kinds of things. He would say that this total merchandise is of Rs 2ooo. How much can you take out of this? If I took merchandise worth Rs 1000, then whatever I made above that would be mine, and I would return Rs 1000 back to my father. I was 10 years old at the time,” he told Aaj Tak.

Vivek Oberoi said that he started learning how to maintain accounts since that age. He added, “If you go to sell on your cycle, then how much money you save? If you take an auto, then how much do you spend? So I had a discipline for this and that would keep increasing every year. Until I was 15-16, my father would make me do this every year.”
