Pakistani star Fawad Khan says he is “still very friendly” with some of his Indian collaborators, which include his Ae Dil Hai Mushkil co-star Ranbir Kapoor, filmmakers Karan Johar and Shakun Batra. Fawad, who was last seen in the 2016 romantic drama also starring Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai, said he enjoys a good relationship with the Kapoor family.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil marked the last Hindi film of Fawad Khan as cine bodies in the country protested the casting of Pakistani actors in Indian films following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 18 September 2016.

While Fawad Khan has been away from Bollywood, it is not as if he has lost touch with artistes here. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Fawad said he is in touch with Ranbir Kapoor “on and off.”

Hamari baat ho jaati hai kabhi chat pe and on phone so I’ve been in touch and I have enjoyed a very good relationship with the Kapoor family and there is still a lot of love and respect even with Karan and Shakun. So, there are friendships. There are some Indian producer friends with whom I chat sometimes, and we plan to meet somewhere, so one and off we talk. We keep in touch and we’re still very cordial and still very friendly and there’s no love lost,” he added.

When he was asked if he has then seen Ranbir Kapoor’s controversial blockbuster Animal, the actor replied, “I am yet to watch it, but I do want to. It is on Netflix, but I couldn’t so far. Everyone has been recommending it to me.”

Fawad Khan will be next seen in filmmaker Asim Abbasi’s Zee Zindagi original Barzakh, which features him and Sanam Saeed, a pair best known for their hit Pakistani drama, Zindagi Gulzar Hai.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hunza Valley, the magical realism show narrates the moving journey of a 76-year-old recluse who invites his estranged children and grandchildren to his secluded valley resort for an extraordinary event — his wedding to the ghost of his first true love.
