Alec Baldwin is expressing his gratitude after his involuntary manslaughter trial was suddenly dismissed by a judge Friday.
“There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now,” he wrote on Instagram Saturday alongside a photo of himself in court looking emotional.
“To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family.”
The actor, 66, was seen crying tears of joy after Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed the case after she said police and prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense in the 2021 shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust.”
“The late discovery of this evidence during trial has impeded the effective use of evidence in such a way that it has impacted the fundamental fairness of the proceedings,” Marlowe Sommer explained during the trial.
“If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith it certainly comes so near to bad faith to show signs of scorching.”
He also embraced his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, for a long hug before exiting the courthouse and ignoring the press.
Following the unexpected news, the “It’s Complicated” star was seen celebrating with his wife and his lawyers, Alex Spiro and Luke Nikas, at the bar at El Dorado Hotel in Santa Fe, N.M.
He appeared upbeat and smiled as he made his way to the bar.
Baldwin’s trial began Tuesday with jury selection and was meant to determine if he was to be held responsible for firing the revolver that went off on set and killed Hutchins during a rehearsal for the Western film.
