Samantha Ruth Prabhu, since her Myositis diagnosis in 2022, has been quite vocal about her medical condition and often shares updates about her health and the different practices she follows to manage her medical condition. However, her recommendations to millions of her followers has concerned several medical practitioners, one of them being Dr Abby Philips who goes by the name of  TheLiverDoc on  social media handles. Recently, Samantha and TheLiverDoc were amid a war of words on social media after the actress, in one of her Instagram Stories, recommended her followers to nebulize with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and distilled water for a common viral than taking unnecessary pills.

Now, in a new note shared on Saturday, TheLiverDoc apologised to Samantha and labeled her doctors as “businessmen” whose practices have been questioned by many health boards. TheLiverDoc, who claims to be practicing medicine for almost a decade, wrote that Samantha’s doctors, Mitra Basu Chillar and Dr Jockers “are the worst that can happen to medical practice. I do not have to debate such people.”

Talking about Mitra Basu Chillar, TheLiverDoc said, “His clinic runs dubious, dangerous and non-recommended practices under the garb of wellness that are a waste of money, time and person.” He accused the doctor of carrying dangerous practices such as ozone therapy, IV cocktail therapy, IV vitamin therapies, low dose ketamine therapy, and ultraviolent blood radiation therapy. He said, “None of their treatments are effective or beneficial or border any close to being “preventative medicine” and is a huge scam, loss of money and in extreme cases, loss of life.”

I have been fighting medical/health misinformation for the longest time and it just does not seem to end. I have come to understand that the only way to fight medical misinformation is to consistently speak about it and make examples of people who mislead and misinform.

Talking about Samantha’s second doctor, Dr Jockers, TheLiverDoc wrote, “The less said about this fraud, the better. Jockers is not a doctor. He is a naturopath. Naturopaths are a menace to society, a danger to patients, and a public health malignancy. And rightly so, Samantha’s Dr. Jockers has been warned multiple times by the US FDA, the US FTA and many other health regulatory bodies for selling and promoting public health endangering products and services. Basically, he is plain simple fraud.”

At the end of his post, TheLiverDoc penned an apology note for Samantha. He wrote, “I understand and empathize with Samantha’s health condition and I wish her the very best. I apologize if she felt uneasy or bad the way the message was conveyed. That was unintentional. My aim was her to leave behind medical misinformation peddling “doctors” who are using her vulnerability, and catering to her anecdotal experiences, for their gain.”

Previously, TheLiverDoc criticised Samantha’s recommendations and wrote on X, “This woman will be charged with endangering public health and fined or put behind bars.” To back his claims he shared that The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has warned people to not nebulize and breathe in hydrogen peroxide because it is dangerous for health.

This had attracted a long note from Samantha. On July 4, the actress took to her Instagram handle to share a note where she wrote, “I am not naive enough to go about strongly advocating a treatment.” She also acknowledged TheLiverDoc’s concerns, but requested it would have been better if he hadn’t used provocative words such as suggesting the actress to be thrown in prison. In her note, she also mentioned doctors who recommended her alternative therapy, without revealing their names.

Soon after Samantha’s response, TheLiverDoc once again called out the actress on his X handle and wrote, “Please note, she is a serial offender in the context of healthcare misinformation and she has been in the line of fire previously too.”
