Javed Akhtar has purchased a new property in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighbourhood for a whopping Rs 7.76 crore. The ready-to-move-in property spans approximately 1199.42 square feet.

As per documents reviewed by SquareYards, the transaction, finalised on July 2, included a stamp duty of Rs 46.02 lakh and a registration fee of Rs 30,000. The property is situated in the Sagar Samrat Building in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area, known for its luxury properties and celebrity residences.

According to the report, Akhtar had previously bought an adjoining apartment of 1218.47 square feet for Rs 7 crore in 2021. He currently resides in this cooperative housing society and lives in an apartment on a different floor from these two properties.

In an earlier inter with with Mojo Story, Javed had spoken about his properties in Juhu and the ongoing project of building his dream house in the same area. Due to the prolonged construction period, he revealed that he currently resides in a small two-room flat with his wife, Shabana Azmi. During the interaction, he humorously remarked that while arguments over home decor might strain their marriage, they are adept at resolving their issues.

He said, “We are currently constructing a house in Juhu and it has been almost two years that it is being made. So, thankfully we have two extra small flats in the same building and we have been living there. This house could cost us this marriage. We argue about home decor things like where will the sofa look good and all, but ultimately we get past them. After half an hour of an unpleasant fight, we talk normally.”
