Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki is receiving unwavering love and support from Indians all over the world at the box office. The film is based on ‘donkey flight’, an illegal immigration route used by Indians to reach Europe and North America, is performing well globally. According to the film’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, the worldwide box office collection of Dunki stands at Rs 452.87 crore.

However, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer has hit a plateau when it comes to its domestic box office earnings. The film that has been doing reasonably well in theatres earned Rs 1.15 crore (nett) on Thursday (day 22 of its release), and it yet to cross the Rs 250 crore milestone in India. Dunki’s total domestic collection stands at Rs 221.77 crore.

Till Thursday, Dunki saw an overall occupancy of 10.27 percent. In Mumbai the film had 372 shows running and witnessed a 10.25 percent occupancy, In Delhi- NCR there were 642 shows with 8.75 percent occupancy. Now, with Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s Merry Christmas releasing today (January 12), theatre owners will cut down on Dunki shows.

Dunki is Shah Rukh Khan’s third best performing films of 2023 after Jawaan and Pathaan. SRK recently called Dunki “one of the most beautiful films” in his life. Acknowledging the massive success of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, collectively grossing Rs 2500 crore worldwide in 2023. SRK expressed gratitude to the audience while receiving an award at CNN-News18’s Indian of the Year – 2023 award ceremony. He said, “I want to thank Siddharth Anand for making Pathaan for me, Aditya Chopra for producing it, Atlee Kumar for making the biggest hit in Hindi Cinema – Jawan, Anirudh for giving the music for it and Rajkumar Hirani and who gave me one of the most beautiful films of my life- Dunki.”
