Ishq Vishq Rebound, the Gen Z version of Shahid Kapoor’s debut film which stars Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan and Naila Grewal in the lead, released in cinemas this Friday. Ishq Vishq Rebound had a mediocre opening at the box office. According to industry tracking website Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 85 lakh.
All the four young actors of the film promoted it quite aggressively for over a month but that hasn’t translated at the box office. It is yet to be seen if the film picks up over the weekend as there are fewer Hindi films in theatres at the moment. The film might face some competition from last week’s Chandu Champion.
Ishq Vishq Rebound witnessed an overall occupancy of 15.37 percent on the day of its debut, with most people catching the night shows. In Mumbai, where there were 276 shows, the occupancy was 18.75 percent, and in Delhi-NCR there were 324 shows with 15 percent occupancy.
While Ishq Vishq Rebound hasn’t had a strong start at the box office, it still opened better than Vidya Balan-starrer Do Aur Do Pyaar which made Rs 60 lakh on its opening day. The film is also doing better than Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, which made Rs 75 lakh on its opening day. Kiran Rao’s film went on to make Rs 20.24 crore during its lifetime run but got attention only after it started streaming.
Along with Pashmina, Rohit and Jibraan, others featuring in the film are social media influencer turned actor Kusha Kapila, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Akarsh Khurana, Shataf Figar and Sheeba Chadha. The rom-com is directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari and backed by producer Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Films. The production house also backed the 2003 film.
