Reports claiming that Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are tying the knot on June 23 have been making headlines for over the past several days. While the couple remains silent, wedding bells are ringing loud with confirmations from family and friends like Poonam Dhillon, Yo Yo Honey Singh, and Daisy Shah. Fans are thrilled to see Sonakshi as a bride, but the actor previously stated her father wouldn’t want her to marry.

In a 2021 interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sonakshi revealed her family’s perspective on marriage. Her father, Shatrughan Sinha, apparently prefers her to stay unmarried. Sonakshi mentioned her mom occasionally suggests marriage, but quickly backs down after a look from her daughter. “If it is up to him (Shatrughan Sinha) then he would never want me to get married. Mom sometimes drops that little bomb ki abhi toh time hogaya (for her marriage) kar lena chahiye, and I just give her one look and then she’s like acha thik hai thik hai (laughs),” she said.

Sonaksh Sinha also expressed appreciation for her parent’s support, allowing her to focus on her successful career without pressure. “I’m glad that they have given me that kind of independence where until I’m not ready, they will not really like sit on my head and be like ‘shaadi karlo beta,’” she added.

With wedding news swirling, Shatrughan Singh recently spoke to The Times of India, expressing his unwavering support for Sonakshi’s choice. “I will always bless her,” he said, avoiding confirmation or denial. He said that if Sonkashi is getting married, he’ll happily “support her decision and choice”. The veteran actor further stated that it’s her right to choose.

Earlier this week, a leaked audio wedding invitation offered a glimpse into Sonakshi Singh and Zaheer Iqbal’s big day. The playful note began with Sonakshi greeting their “tech-savvy” family and friends. They reminisced about their seven-year journey filled with love, laughter, and adventures, leading them to this special moment. “To all our hip, tech-savvy and jasoos friends and family who has managed to land on this page, hi,” Sonakshi said. To which, Zaheer added, “For the last seven years that we have been together, all the joy, love, laughter and many, many adventures has led us to this very moment.”
“From rumoured boyfriend and girlfriend,” Sonakshi stated, “to husband and wife,” Zaheer chimed in. “Finally!” they exclaimed, inviting everyone to celebrate with them on June 23rd.
