Buoyed by scintillating knocks from Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya as well as blistering display by the bowlers helped India decimate a hapless Bangladesh side by 62 runs in their only warm-up match on Saturday.

Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube took 2 wickets each while Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya also chipped in with Bangladesh going 41/5 in just the 8th over.

Mahmudullah top scored for Bangladesh with 40 runs before being withdrawn.

Pant reinforced his claim for a berth in India’s playing 11 for the T20 World Cup as the first-choice wicketkeeper batter when he made a flowing fifty to guide his side to 182 for five against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pandya coming on the back of a dismal IPL looked a different player in national colours as he bludgeoned 40 from 23 balls which included 3 sixes in one over.

Sanju Samson played the match as opener along with skipper Rohit Sharma as Virat Kohli, who was expected to open, skipped the match after he arrived here only on Friday. However, the Rajasthan Royals captain could only score 1 before being sent back by Shoriful Islam.

Sharma wouldn’t last long either as he was dismissed by Mahmudullah fie 23 while Shivam Dube also failed to make an impact, scoring just 16 runs.

However, Suryakumar Yadav scored a quickfire as India moved to a competitive total despite not having any single big partnership in their innings.

India will begin the tournament proper when they take on Ireland on June 5, followed by a high voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9. They’ll then play hosts USA on June 12 and finish off their group stage commitments with a match against Canada on June 15.
