Mythri Movie Makers, director Prasanth Varma and star Ranveer Singh have released a joint statement revealing that they have parted ways on a project that wasn’t ever officially announced. Rumours about their differences have been making the rounds in recent weeks. Ranveer was said to be collaborating with the young filmmaker on his follow-up to the record-setting superhero blockbuster HanuMan, which remains 2024’s highest-grossing Indian film.
In the statement, Ranveer said, “Prasanth is a very special talent. We met and explored the idea of a film together. Hopefully we will collaborate on something exciting in the future.” The filmmaker said, “Ranveer’s energy and talent is rare to find. We shall manifest our forces combining soon sometime in the future.” The statement said that they chose to part ways due to ‘creative differences’, but also noted that this wasn’t ‘the ideal time’ for the project even though everybody’s ‘intentions were right’. “The team shook hands with a promise to associate in times to come,” the statement concluded.

Ranveer is coming off the hit romantic comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, directed by Karan Johar. He has multiple projects in the works, including a Shaktimaan reboot directed by Basil Joseph, and Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. But both big-budget projects have been delayed, with no concrete updates about either being shared following their announcement. Prasanth Varma has expressed a desire to create a cinematic universe following his success with HanuMan, but has said that he intends to hand over directing duties to other filmmakers while he oversees the larger arc of the franchise.
