He further shared how he never owned a pair of shoes while growing up in Bihar. He said, “You’ll be surprised how, until college, I never wore shoes. Of course I knew how they looked but I’d wear chappals, leather chappals, that was my habit from my days in Bihar. In small towns you don’t wear shoes. I would wear good clothes, I always loved wearing good clothes. I would have three pair of clothes, but they’ll all be washed and clean at all times. I’d always wear fashionable clothes, either I would buy something cheap or get it tailor made, but I loved wearing clothes that were in fashion but I was not into shoes that much. I used to love wearing chappals. Aabhi bhi nahi jamta hai (I am still not used to it). I started wearing shoes when I started doing theatre.”

Bajpayee, also shared that he’d buy export reject clothes when he earned Rs 1000- 15000 during his theatre days. “I’d buy clothes from Janpath in Delhi where all export rejects would be sold. A market like one at Sarojini Nagar used to be there. I used to get cheap clothes from there. When I would earn Rs 1000- 1500, I’d go there and shop for clothes. I would have one pair of shoes, sneaker type, which would go on all the clothes. It was the best,” he concluded.

On the work front Manoj is now shooting for the third season on his much anticipated web-show The Family Man.
